Name:
Candy Evans
Real Estate Editor, AOL's HousingWatch; Founder/blogger, SecondShelters

I am an independent journalist based in Dallas, Texas, obsessed with Real Estate, which is why I cover it for AOL's HousingWatch, one of the most comprehensive consumer real estate sites on the web. For ten years, I covered real estate and design for D Magazine, a regional print publication in Dallas, and developed the city's first real estate blog in 2007: www.DallasDirt.com. I broke countless stories for the award-winning blog, and though he tried to keep his post-White House home a secret, I was the first to report where President George W. Bush bought in Dallas. In October, 2010, D Magazine shut down the blog and I founded SecondShelters.com, a niche blog devoted to second and multiple home ownership, whether vacation or investment.

I was born in Chicago, studied journalism at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism (1979, I'm old) and moved to Dallas to work in TV news. I acquired my Texas real estate license in 2009 to become a better reporter and gain access to the MLS, since Texas is a non-disclosure state. I love urban development issues want to know everything about Real Estate! Special areas of interest: House Porn, second homes, real estate finance, and how Gen X and Y will buy homes.

Interests:

Real estate, land use, second home development, real estate investing
